And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature,
and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52, NIV)

I was on my high school’s varsity track 440 and 880 relay teams. I still remember the rush of adrenaline on race day and the joy of successfully passing the baton to the next teammate. There was satisfaction in knowing I did my very best, and a feeling of confidence that my teammates would carry the baton to victory.

As I complete my eighteenth year at Rockbridge, I again feel like that high school athlete. This year I am retiring as founder and president, and I am thrilled to be passing the baton to a premier teammate, Tommy Hilliker, who becomes the second president of Rockbridge. He is a proven leader skilled in growing ministry organizations. As a former pastoral staff member at Saddleback Church, Hilliker is committed to the Purpose Driven curriculum of Rockbridge. I am confident he will successfully run the next leg of the race. My run nearly completed, I cheer him on.

I’m also excited for you and what you will experience over the course of your learning at Rockbridge. I pray you will experience the sacred adrenaline of God’s presence through your studies. This catalog will help you plan the course of your race.

Years ago, I borrowed my signature line from the chairman of our Board of Trustees. Kevin Compton is the epitome of a positive and hopeful leader. Every time I read or write his signature line, “Looking forward,” I am reminded of the direction I must face as I move toward new goals. I am reminded to forget what is behind and press toward the mark of the high calling of God. (Phil. 3:14)
I am grateful for the opportunity the Board gave me to be a part of creating a new way of developing leaders for Christian ministry. These men and women believe in the mission of Rockbridge and continue to guide our race.
I eagerly wait to hear stories of how God is using Rockr’s to transform the lives of others around the world.

Looking forward,

Daryl Eldridge, Ph.D.
